Abu Dhabi has set its sights on becoming the first city in the world to operate an air taxi service by the end of 2025 by signing an agreement to operate an air taxi service.
Electrical-vertical-take-off-and-landing (EVTOL) aircraft will also be built in the UAE capital following an agreement with local American company Archer Aviation.
If the plan is successful, Archer’s midnight craft will be able to move between multiple ‘vertiports’ across the city with four passengers, cutting travel time by up to 80 per cent.
According to a company spokesperson, Midnight’s safety profile is similar to that of commercial airliners, while it is 100 times quieter than a helicopter when flying at high altitudes.
