Christmas is as special a time for the Britain’s Royal Family, as it is for everyone around the world.
But the gathering for the Windsors is bigger than most.
The Prince of Wales has revealed this week that he will be spending the Christmas with 45 people at Sandringham, which is his father’s private estate located in Norfolk.
Prince William said he was looking forward to but was not ready for the festive season while attending a seasonal event for families of 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment at Bulford, Wiltshire.
William further said: ‘Am I ready for Christmas? No, no way am I ready.’
He told others that he was looking forward to spending Christmas with 45 members of his family all in one room. However, he said they are normally spread out.
Those invited to Sandringham can look forward to some festive fun of the Royal Family’s own making and a mixture of the traditional.
In a nod to the family’s German origins, the Royals open their presents on Christmas Eve as they showcase their gifts on trestle tables and exchange them at teatime. They are known to enjoy exchanging novelty presents, typically buying things that are cheap and will make people laugh rather than spending a lot on big, lavish gifts.
For example, Prince William reportedly presented his late grandmother a pair of slippers emblazoned with her face.
However, Princess of Wales Kate gifted something safer for Queen Elizabeth – a jar of homemade chutney.
The couple wore black tie for a dinner on Christmas Eve.
