ICC gives go ahead to Champions Trophy in Pakistan

The International Cricket Council has expressed satisfaction with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) preparations for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The eight-team tournament will be hosted by Pakistan at three venues – Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi – in February-March next year.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who went to Dubai to attend ICC meeting, assured the cricket governing body’s board members about the progress and timeline of the renovation work at all three proposed venues.

He also invited ICC members to Pakistan to personally assess the preparation for the tournament.

The final of the tournament is set for March 9, with a reserve day on March 10.

The ICC board considered adjusting the tenure of the ICC Chair and Independent Director positions to two to three-year terms, pending approval from the ICC membership.

The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will feature eight teams, with Pakistan competing in Group A alongside India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Group B includes England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan.
