The commissioner has slapped a ban on sit-ins, protests, rallies and public gatherings in Karachi under the Section 144 for a period of five days citing security issues
In this connection, a notification has been issued by the Karachi commissioner’s office. The notification bans demonstrations and assembly of more than five persons across the metropolis at the advice of additional inspector general (AIG) Karachi.
The restriction would come into effect from October 13 till 17.
The notification says the Karachi police chief informed the authorities that protests, demonstrations, sit-ins, and rallies will be held by different parties on same day in the city that may cause security issues, law and order situation, and inconvenience to the general public”.
