Rs1.35 per litre hiked in petrol prices

The price of petrol and diesel across the country is likely to decrease from next month.

Government and industry sources said that the government will provide Rs2.97 per litre relief in petrol price and Rs2.31 per litre reduction in high speed diesel (HSD) price from September 1  to September 15.

This will be the third consecutive reduction in the prices of petroleum products.

Since the trend of reduction in the prices of petroleum products continues in the international market, due to which the cut in the prices of petroleum is certain from September 1.

However, there are still three days left for the beginning of the month and further fluctuations in their prices during this time may lead to minor changes in the prices which have been fixed by the concerned authorities so far.

Similarly, the sources said that the price of kerosene is likely to decrease by Rs1.39 per litre and the price of light diesel by Rs1.96 per litre.

The new price of petrol may be revised from Rs260.96 per litre to Rs257.99 per litre and diesel from the existing price of Rs266.07 per litre to Rs263.76 per litre.
