Shehbaz says Afghanistan should take effective measures against terrorism

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Afghanistan should take effective measures against terrorism so that its territory is not used against any other country.

Addressing the summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that SCO is playing an important role in the social and economic development of the people of the region. Our challenges are common and we have to work together for development and prosperity. For a bright future, we have to free ourselves from geographical and political confrontation, he added.

The prime minister said that Pakistan is an important trade route in terms of its commercial location, and is moving towards achieving the goal of development and prosperity through CPEC. He further said that SCO should devise an alternative funding mechanism for development projects.

Shahbaz said that state terrorism should be strongly condemned, and Afghanistan should take effective measures against terrorism so that its territory is not used against any other country. Lasting peace in Afghanistan is our common goal, he said and added discussions have to be held so that the problems of the people there are solved.

He further said that humanitarian atrocities are continuing in Gaza. The resolutions of the UN Security Council are there to solve the problems that need settlement. We have to ensure the implementation of the resolutions of the Security Council, he added.
