LAHORE: In a strange incident, a female student was rejected admission in Government College University Lahore for donning a veil during the interview.

The student namely Mehreen Shafiq reportedly denied to remove her veil when in interview with the GCU male teachers panel.

On Tuesday, the court has issued notices to GCU and Higher Education Commission (HEC) while delaying the hearing till September 10.

Mehreen claims that she was ready to undo her hijab before the female penal.

The student filed a petition in Lahore High Court stating that she has all the right to wear the dress of her choice.

The student claims in the petition that the panel forced her to remove her veil and when she denied, she was refused admission in the institute.

Mehreen requested the court to take legal action against GCU in this regard.
