Yusuf Pathan beats BJP, Congress by a huge margin in elections

Former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan, who participated in the Lok Sabha elections for the first time, won by a large margin against the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

After the Lok Sabha and state assemblies elections, counting of votes is going on today and the Election Commission of India is also announcing the results.

Indian media reports said that former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan, who contested the elections from West Bengal’s Behrampur on All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) seat defeated Adhirranjan Chaudhary of Congress by a large margin.

The Indian election commission said that Yusuf Pathan got over 4, 23, 000 votes while his opponent Congress member Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary got more than 3, 59,000 votes. Apart from this, BJP candidate Dr Nirmal Kumar Saha got 3, 23,685 votes.

It should be noted that Yusuf Pathan scored 810 runs at an average of 27 in 57 ODI matches while representing India. He also has two centuries to his name. In T20 Internationals, he scored 236 runs in 22 matches at an average of 18.15 and a strike rate of 146.58.

41-year-old Yusuf Pathan was part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011.

Yusuf Pathan is the third player from the 2011 World Cup winning Indian team to enter politics. Gautam Gambhir and Harbhajan Singh from the Indian World Cup team have also joined politics.
