PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has summoned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif over the wheat scandal.
Sources said that a meeting was held at Jati Umra under the chairmanship of Nawaz Sharif, in which the former prime minister said that those who created the wheat crisis in the country will not be spared.
Nawaz Sharif summoned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday over the wheat scandal and on the same day the premier is likely to submit a report to the PML-N leader.
During the meeting, Nawaz was told that the vessels carrying wheat left for Pakistan before an approval was accorded. These ships, which were supposed to arrive in 25 days reached the Karachi port only in 7 days after the approval.
Sources say that the method of buying wheat from farmers in Punjab was also discussed in the meeting.
The PML-N Quaid said that the Kisan Cards should be given immediately so that the farmers can have ease in the next crop.
After the fact-finding report comes, the process of buying wheat in Punjab will be announced. The farmers will be given Kisan Cards worth Rs500 billion.
It should be remembered that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the import of 691, 000 metric tons of wheat in the first month of the government.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered an investigation into the continuation of wheat import after February 2024 and directed to identify the elements responsible for the continuation of wheat import and opening of LCs.
