The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is asking the European Union to withdraw Pakistan’s GSP plus status.

Some political elements want to harm the economy for their own purposes, they are trying to prevent the IMF from signing an agreement with Pakistan, the federal information minister told a news conference today.

Atta Tarar said that PTI and its founder are trying to make the country bankrupt. But this did not happen courtesy untiring efforts of Shehbaz Sharif.

He said that protecting the national interest is our first responsibility, but a political party neither see the national interest nor does it care about the recovery of the economy.

Tarar said that PTI made a heinous conspiracy by writing a letter to the IMF. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is working day and night for the improvement of the economy. Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb has the ability to manage the country’s economy, he added.

The federal minister said that the European Union is being asked by PTI to withdraw the GSP plus status of Pakistan.

To a question about Imran Khan, the minister said that the PTI founder was being allowed to meet four days a week against the jail manual that allows only one meeting in seven days.

Tarar said that the PTI founder has been provided lavish facilities in the prison. Apart from the prison manual, he approached courts for more facilities. The facilities PTI founder is getting in the prison are not available to any other prisoner.

He said that the PTI founder has been given a kitchen, an extra room and a gallery to walk in. He has held hundreds of meetings during his imprisonment.

The information minister said that the security audit of Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali and Adiala Jail is being conducted.
