PFA seals eateries, sweet shops in Lahore

LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority under its director operations Ayesha Mumtaz raided two sweet shops and one Chinese restaurants in Lahore on Thursday.

According to details released, Ayesha Mumtaz visited ‘Hsin Kaung’ Chinese resturant 9-C -k Gulberg.

The restaurant was sealed due to extremely unhygienic conditions, cockroaches in kitchen area, poor sanitary conditions, open drains, poor hygiene of cold storage, water accumulation in kitchen, expired soup paste in cold storage, uncovered food items and non compliance of instructions given earlier in this regard.

In another raid, a sweet shop ‘Mama Sweets’ of Wahdat Road, Samanabad Town too was sealed as the PFA team due to improper washing of utensils, insects in product and damaged refrigerator.

Another sweet shop, Naimat-e-Shireen was sealed in Shahdra Town due to presence of starch,expired Energile, Not mentioning expiry date on products.

The PFA maintains that the sweet shop was given notices in the past but it did not comply with the orders.
