KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that the journalists should be the voice of the city and fight its case to get the rights of the people of Karachi from the rulers because Karachi is a mini Pakistan.

Addressing a reception hosted by Jamaat-e-Islami at Noor-e-Haq in honour of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) officials and members from across the country, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that 42 per cent of total tax, 67 per cent in national exchequer and 95 per cent of the budget of the province depends on Karachi but Nawaz League, PPP, PTI and MQM and their governments have deprived 35 million people of Karachi of their legitimate and legal rights.

He said that Jamaat-e-Islami has exposed all of them and has been the true spokesman of the people. The city can go further if even a small part of the money earned from it is spent honestly and sincerely.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that unfortunately the people of this city were deceived again and again. The MQM has been in power with every government for 35 years, the PPP has been ruling Sindh and Karachi for 14 years.

He further said that PTI also won 14 National Assembly seats from Karachi but its federal government also did practically nothing for Karachi. During the Nawaz League regime, half of Karachi’s population disappeared in the 2017 census, he said.
