ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former information minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that the current government has no right to appoint army chief and other appointments.

In his tweet, Fawad Chaudhry said that the constitution gives the right to the Prime Minister-elect to appoint the Army Chief and make other appointments but the present government has no right to such permanent appointments.

He said that if the imported government dreams of such appointments then the country and institutions will fall prey to anarchy.

He further added that the status of this government is only temporary and permanent appointments will be made by the elected government.

In response to Fawad Chaudhry, Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that making the appointment of Army Chief already controversial was an irresponsible attempt by his party to push the country towards anarchy.

He said that his statement in the lust for power was a conspiracy to create division in the army.
