Sirajul Haq visits flood-hit Chitral, demands to declare it ‘disaster zone’

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq on Wednesday demanded the government to declare Chitral as ‘disaster zone’ and to envisage special development programme for Chitral on emergency basis.

While talking to flood affectees during his visit to flood-hit parts of Chitral, Sirajul haq said that wide-scale disasters were occurred following dangerous flood in Chitral which completely suspended connection of the area from the country.

He said that Al-Khidmat Foundation volunteers have reached by scaling mountains and dangerous routes to help out nationals trapped in various parts of Chitral.

He highlighted that major problem of the citizens are provision of pure drinking water. He said that relief activities were not commenced on various flooded spots due to suspension of route. He urged provincial and federal governments to make earliest attention on the areas.

He said that significant efforts on governmental level were not seen so far for the flood victims except efficient relief activities being carried out by Pakistan Army and Al-Khidmat Foundation.

Sirajul Haq vowed that Jamaat-e-Islami would not leave their brothers alone in the tough situation and maximum efforts would be continued till complete restoration of Chitral citizens. He assured flood affectees to raise the matter in Senate and PM Nawaz Sharif would also be contacted to approved major relief package for the area.

Earlier, Sirajul Haq had been received by a large number of JI activists including President Al-Khidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Noorul Haq over his arrival in Chitral.
