ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has expressed his views on the duration of the new coalition government to be formed in the country.
Addressing a function, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, referring to the new coalition government, said that the new government formed is for a maximum of one year.
He further said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has its own existence, identity and position within this government. We are telling them that we still need immediate elections, he said.
Fazlur Rehman without mentioning Imran Khan’s name said that we have dismissed him, but it is our responsibility to return the trust of the nation for which we struggled.
He said that if there are flaws in the electoral system, then those who are inevitable should make electoral reforms. We are standing on our position. There is also a limit to expediency, he said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sardar Tanveer Ilyas has been elected unopposed as the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.
Voting for the Azad Kashmir Prime Minister was scheduled to take place at half past one in the day, but the joint opposition boycotted the meeting for the election of the Prime Minister due to which there was no candidate against the PTI candidate.
Sardar Tanveer Ilyas from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had submitted nomination papers which were declared valid by the Secretary Assembly after which Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was elected unopposed as the prime minister of Azad Kashmir.
The Speaker of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly announced the new Leader of the House, according to which Sardar Tanveer Ilyas got 33 votes.
On the other hand, when the opposition members walked out of the assembly, the PTI workers staged a protest, during which the workers chanted slogans and used harsh words.
Due to the protest of PTI workers, members of the joint opposition returned to the assembly building and demanded the speaker to take notice of the situation.
