KARACHI: Alkhidmat Karachi is operating 50 Water Filtration Plants in Karachi which are providing safe and clean drinking water of international quality to thousands of citizens on a daily basis, according to CEO Alkhidmat Karachi, Naveed Ali Baig.

Stressing on the importance of clean water and the hazards of contaminated water, Naveed Ali Baig said that clean water is crucial for life, and Alkhidmat was working to provide clean water to citizens at subsidized rates.

He said that Alkhidmat was also operating a mobile Water Van that was dispensing clean and cool water in high traffic areas during the hot summer. Alkhidmat had also established a Water Testing Lab in PIB where citizens and institutions could test their water samples. In addition, there was a team of water technicians that performs maintenance work at water plants that had developed mechanical problems. Naveed Ali Baig also highlighted that Alkhidmat had procured Water Filtration Plants from the Japanese government during the time of late Mayor Niamatullah Khan that were still in use in the city and were providing clean water to citizens.

He also mentioned that Alkhidmat had installed Automatic Dispensing Machines at four localities in the city that were dispensing clean water 24 hours to citizens. On the success of this pilot project, this service would be expanded to other areas also. According to Naveed Ali Baig, there was a serious scarcity of clean water in the city of three crores, and Alkhidmat’s intention was to provide clean water to every corner of the city. Alkhidmat was working to the best of its ability to improve the situation and people with means needed to come forward to help Alkhidmat in its efforts.
