Alkhidmat organizes Fire Safety Drill for Aghosh Homes orphans

KARACHI: Alkhidmat Karachi and Bahria University’s Earth and Environmental Sciences department jointly organized a seminar and walk for awareness of clean water. Both events, held to commemorate World Water Day, were attended by a large number of students and teachers, as well as officials from Alkhidmat Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, CEO Alkhidmat Karachi Naveed Ali Baig said that water if life itself, and the importance of clean water cannot be overemphasized.

He highlighted the scarcity of clean water in the country which had led Alkhidmat to start its Clean Water project to provide quality and clean water to citizens. He informed the audience that Alkhidmat had established more than 50 Water Filtration Plants in the city which were benefitting thousands of citizens. Besides, there are several other initiatives which are under consideration by Alkhidmat to provide clean drinking water to people, along with activities for raising awareness about the importance of clean water and the hazards of contaminated water. Executive Director Community Services Alkhidmat Karachi Qazi Syed Sadruddeen also addressed the audience by stressing upon the awareness of clean water for life, and the problems leading to the water crisis in the city.

He lamented the fact that Karachi was not being provided enough water for its needs, and expressed his hopes that the situation would be remedied soon. Head of Department Earth and Environmental Sciences Bahria University Dr. Salma lauded Alkhidmat’s efforts to create awareness of this issue among the public and its services in providing clean water to citizens. Lastly, Urban Planner Muhammad Tawheed gave a presentation on underground water sources and their importance, and ways to protect and use them for the welfare of the community
