Prime Minister Imran Khan and Federal Minister Asad Umar have challenged the ECP’s notice in the Islamabad High Court.

Federal Minister Asad Umar reached the Islamabad High Court to challenge the ECP’s notice and filed a petition in which the ECP and the federation have been made parties to the petition through the Cabinet Secretary.

The petition asks whether the Election Commission can remove the amendment in the Election Act from the Code of Conduct. The order of the Election Commission regarding the election campaign is against the law. Legislation has been enacted to allow public office holders to participate in the election campaign.

The petition said that the Election Commission could not ban the election campaign after the ordinance, the Election Commission does not have the power to interpret the law.

The petition seeks annulment of the Election Commission’s March 10 order and March 11 notices.

On the other hand, the Registrar of the Islamabad High Court, while objecting to the petition of the Prime Minister Imran Khan, said that the statement of the Prime Minister is not attached with the affidavit. Imran Khan filed the petition without biometrics.
