LAHORE: The issue of change of chief minister in Punjab has been under discussion for a long time and PML-Q leader and Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is being considered as a strong candidate for the new Chief Minister.

Yesterday, Pervaiz Elahi had also said in an interview to a private TV channel that the two allied parties said that they would look into the matter of Punjab chief minister after a vote of no confidence but Chaudhry Shujaat said that no, the work of Punjab CM should be done first.

Now, panaflex banners inscribed with slogans that read “Punjab Ke Majboori Hay….Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Wazeer Aala Zaroori Hay” has emerged outside the PMl-Q;s central office.

Yesterday, Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader and Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had admitted that all the allies of the government were leaning towards the opposition.

In an interview to a private TV channel, the anchor asked Pervaiz Elahi, “Are all the allies of the government leaning towards the opposition?”. Elahi replied, “One hundred percent!”

The Punjab Assembly speaker further said that it is the duty of Khan Sahib to reverse the inclination.

It may be recalled that the opposition has filed a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly Secretariat while the campaign to remove Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has also gained momentum in Punjab.

The opposition is committed to the success of the no-confidence motion and claims that the coalition parties of the government are with them and their numbers are perfect.

Meanwhile, to thwart the no-confidence motion, Prime Minister Imran Khan is also holding regular meetings with allies and assuring them of resolving their concerns.

Yesterday, Senator Faisal Javed Khan had said that the no-confidence vote would be held after March 27. If the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan succeeds, he will be the first Pakistani prime minister to lose the PM’s job as a result of the no-confidence motion.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the country cannot afford confrontation.

Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain appealed to the government and the opposition to cancel the rallies in the national interest and said that the situation in the country could not afford confrontation.

He said that the people affected by poverty and inflation are disturbed by the politics of rallies while it is surprising that the government has also started holding rallies as opposed to the opposition. Political chaos could benefit Pakistan’s internal and external enemies.
