KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman visited Bhains Colony, Landhi, and met the officials of dairy farmers and Meat Merchant Association.

Haji Akhtar Gujjar, President Dairy Farmers Association, while welcoming Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman said that they are grateful to Jamaat-e-Islami for raising voice for the issues facing by the dairy farmers in recent times.

He said that 10,000 animals of the buffalo colony produce 5 million liters of milk daily. According to all the laboratories in Pakistan, cow’s milk and meat are not harmful to anyone’s health.

Talking to media, Hafiz Naeem said that the problem of disease in animals is not being reported in buffalo milk but in beef.

The JI chief said that there is a cure for the disease in cows which is being treated.

Unfortunately, the government has no role to play. In this situation, it was the duty of the Sindh government to eliminate panic among the people by consulting doctors and ethologists.

He said an expert session will be held on March 16 at 3pm on the on the effects of disease in cows’s beef and milk.

Hafiz Naeem said that all the associations including dairy farmers and wholesalers would participate in the session and present their position. The government should also play its  role regarding milk prices. The official price of milk is different than that of its is being sold in the market.

Hafiz Naeem said that the government should take a clear stand regarding the price of meat and milk. The supply and consumption of meat and milk is a common problem of all of us, he added.

He said that public lacks confidence in our entire system, therefore propaganda is hatched.
