ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has claimed on Monday that Pakistan is still cheaper country to live in as compared to several other countries in the world.
The prime minister recalled the steps taken by the government to take the country out of the ongoing inflationary tide.

Imran made these remarks while addressing the launching ceremony of Ehsaas Riayat Rashan Programme here in Islamabad.
He said that the prices of diesel and petrol in the country were still cheaper as compared to the UAE despite their oil reserves.
Imran promised the nation that as long as they keep giving taxes, we will continue enhancing the scope of welfare programmes for masses.
The prime minister said that the government wanted to improve lifestyle of underprivileged people.
He further said that families in all provinces, except Sindh, would get health cards by the end of this month.
Imran added that the health cards would be distributed in Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa.
He said that each family through these health cards would get a health insurance cover of up to Rs1 million.
The prime minister further said that people all over the world suffered economic problems due to Covid pandemic. However, he added, Pakistan’s policies had saved people from what could have been the worst case scenario.
Meanwhile, Aleem Khan, the former senior Punjab minister has joined Jahangir Khan Tareen faction of PTI with the view to save the party after loyalists had been sidelined following PM Imran’s rise to power.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday after a meeting at Jahangir Tareen’s residence, Aleem Khan said if a no-trust is moved against Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, then the Tareen group would accordingly decide a future course of action.
The Opposition all set to move a no-trust motion against the PTI-led government in the Punjab and National assemblies. They have also made contact with several PTI leaders, including Tareen.
Aleem Khan said that he would not have been sad had PTI’s popularity been rising in the country. He lamented that the the government’s situation was dismal.
The former minister said that the PTI voters and loyalists are very upset over the poor situation of the Punjab government. Therefore, he said, we have decided that a like-minded group should be created.
Earlier, Foreign Minister and Senior Vice-Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said that the PTI government doesn’t believe in restrictions on the media. However, he said that the government wants the media to play its role with responsibility.
Addressing a presser, the foreign minister said the changes to the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) were not intended to silent the media. He was of the view that any curbs were not workable in the present day.
