WASHINGTON: US Special Representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad has resigned.
The US Secretary of State has also announced a new Special Representative for Afghanistan.
According to the State Department, the new US Special Representative for Afghanistan will be Thomas West, who has previously served as Deputy Representative.
Thomas West was part of the National Security Council under former President Obama.
