Kabul International Airport reopens for international flights

KABUL: The Kabul International Airport has been reopened for international flights on Monday.
According to the Afghan Civil Association Authority, the airport will be operation from 6am to 6pm for flights. Efforts were underway to restore flights at night, it added.
Deputy Information Minister Zabihullah Mujahid said that the staff had resumed their duties at the Kabul airport. Restoration work at the airport is almost completed, he added.
Kabul airport is now safe. Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other countries had requested for restoration of flights. Domestic flight at the airport had already been resumed, he added.
On Sept 10, the Taliban had renamed the Hamid Karzai International Airport in the capital Kabul and removed the boards of the Hamid Karzai International Airport from the airport.
The Taliban had renamed the Hamid Karzai International Airport as Kabul International Airport.
Earlier this month domestic flights were resumed from the Kabul airport.
