KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has praised the cancelation of illegal leases of governmental properties and strongly urged the government to recover the grabbed amenity plots and other pieces of land.

Naeem hailed the newly appointed provincial minister for local bodies Nasir Hussain Shah as under his directions, the illegal leases of a couple of bungalows in Clifton area, which are actually the property of the government, were repealed.

He stressed the need to ensure conciliation of all kinds of illegal leases across the province.

Referring to the illegal marriage halls, unit and sector offices of Muttahida Qaumi Movement established at parks and playgrounds, and ‘China cutting,’ in the city, the JI leader demanded of the government to take strict action against those involved in these heinous crimes.

He said that JI has been raising the issue since long. In this regard, former city mayor Nematullah Khan had submitted an appeal before the judiciary, seeking legal action on revealed and notified encroachments and the apex court had ordered to eliminate the encroachments, he said and expressed his disappointment that so far the court orders have been neglected.

Commenting on the recent development in which rangers and Federal Investigation Authority raided at KBCA and KMC offices, he said that the recovered record should be scrutinized and strict action should be taken against those involved, besides publically revealing their political affiliation.
