No-trust motion in violation of Constitution: Deputy Speaker

ISLAMABAD: The PML-N alongside PPP on Thursday moved a no-confidence resolution against Qasim Suri, the deputy speaker of the National Assembly.

PML-N lawmakers Muhammad Javed Abbasi and Khurram Dastgir Khanhad had submitted the no-confidence move against the deputy speaker under the Rule 12 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly.

Sources said that the no-confidence move, which was also signed by PPP MNAs, demanded removal of Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri.

The resolution accuses the deputy speaker of running the National Assembly illegally. The PML-N and PPP lawmakers said that Suri continued the parliamentary proceedings despite the lack of quorum being pointed out by them in the house.
