Karachi: The Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to fall on May 14 (Friday) says a Karachi University scientist.
Professor Javed Iqbal, the head of the Institute of Space Science and Technology, Karachi University, predicted that the holy month of Ramazan may consists of 30 days this year.
When the sunsets on the evening of May 12, the age of the moon will be 19 hours and 31 minutes, while the time between sunset and moonset is only 36 minutes.
He said that the new moon of Shawwal 1442 AH will be born on the night between May 11 and 12 at about 12 o’clock one minute.
According to a Karachi University professor, the moon will be about 6.5 degrees from the horizon at sunset and it is very unlikely that the moon will appear after sunset on the evening of May 12.
