ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered to stop re-polling scheduled for April 10 in NA-75 Daska.
The court heard a petition regarding the Daska by-elections.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked that the Election Commission’s decision of re-polling is still valid but the re-polling on April 10 is being postponed for the time being.
Salman Akram Raja, the counsel for PML-N candidate Nausheen Iftikhar presented his arguments before the court.
He told the court that complaints of irregularities were received from 34 out of 76 polling stations. He added that 20 presiding officers had also gone missing on the polling day.
The court observed that the case required sufficient time to be decided as the arguments of Salman Akram Raja were continue while PML-N candidate Nausheen Iftikhar and other parties are still to be heard.
