Senate elections will be held through secret ballot under Constitution; ECP

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that the Senate elections will be held by secret ballot under the existing Constitution and law.

A meeting was held in the Election Commission under the chairmanship of the Chief Election Commissioner in which the opinion on the presidential reference by the Supreme Court was considered.

According to a statement issued by the Election Commission, the ECP has decided to fully implement the opinion of the Supreme Court for the Senate elections.

The Election Commission has decided to form a three-member committee on the issue comprising Special Secretary Election Commission, DG IT and Saeed Gul.

The committee will formulate its recommendations on the use of technology in Senate elections within four weeks. The committee may seek assistance from NADRA, FIA, Ministry of IT and concerned persons.
