1230 corruption references pending in various accountability courts: NAB chief

Islamabad: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal has said that petitions for speedy hearing of mega corruption cases worth billions of rupees will be filed in the accountability courts.

A meeting of NAB was held under the chairmanship of Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal in which the overall situation of NAB, mega corruption cases were brought to a logical conclusion.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman NAB Hussain Asghar, Prosecutor General NAB Asghar Haider and DG Operations Zahir Shah.

On this occasion, the Chairman NAB said that eradication of corruption, return of looted money to the national treasury is the first priority.1230 references of corruption worth Rs947 billion are pending in various accountability courts of the country, he added.
