Scientists invent self-powering camera

NEW YORK: Columbia University Scientists have invented a camera that is able to produce images by converting surrounding light into power.

The camera can take an image each second. A team of Columbian University Scientists headed by Shree Nayar invented the camera.

The image sensor of the camera continuously toggles between image capture and power generating modes. Its pixels are used first to record and read out the image and then to generate energy to charge the power supply.
