Story of Pakistan’s first transgender lawyer

KARACHI: Neesha was used to attend classes from 2pm to 5pm at a law college in Karachi and later make her livelihood out of begging on the streets of the city between 8pm and 12pm.

“I migrated from Lahore to Karachi after completing matriculation. Here I continued my academic journey alongwith begging,’ she said.

I completed my law degree in 2018. Since then, I have provided legal aid to 50 clients, including transgenders.

The 28-year-old country’s first transgender lawyer has a dream to construct a shelter home for elderly transgenders in the country.
