Abid Ali remanded in police custody

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday remanded Abid Ali, the main accused in the Lahore motorway gang-rape case, into police custody for 14 days.

Earlier, a Model Town’s CIA team-led by Asim Iftikhar produced the accused before the court amid strict security.

ATC Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta heard the case while the police presented an initial report.

After a brief hearing, the court sent Abid Ali to jail for identification parade for 14 days.

On the occasion, the other co-accused in the case, Shafqat, was also produced before the court, which approved his physical remand till October 28.

Last night, the main accused in the Lahore motorway gang-rape case Abid was arrested in Faisalabad.

Police said that Abid was arrested in Faisalabad and later shifted to Lahore where his DNA test would be conducted.

Abid had managed to escape during raids in Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura and Fort Abbas.
