Rains, floods kill 81 in Pakistan: NDMA

ISLAMABAD: As many as 81 people have been killed so far from torrential rains and flooding over past two weeks in Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported.

Almost 300,000 peoples were affected from the from torrential rains and flooding, NDMA spokesperson said.

Severe rains which began in mid-July have caused havoc in both the north and south of the country, damaging more than 1,900 houses and injuring dozens of people, spokesman said.

At least 38 people were killed in worst-hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and 19 in Azad Kashmir, Ahmed Kamal said

Eleven people also died in central Punjab, eight in Balochistan and five in Gilgit-Baltistan.
