Azhar Ali eyes T20 clean sweep against Sri Lanka

LAHORE: After grabbing victory in One Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka, Pakistan ODI captain Azhar Ali expressed his hopes for clean sweep in upcoming Twenty20 series against the host team.

Green Shirts led by Shahid Afridi will take on the host Sri Lanka in upcoming T20 series comprising two matches at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on July 30 and August 1 respectively.

Azhar Ali while talking to journalists at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore expressed big hopes for continuation of the victorious moves by Green Shirts despite a change in personnel.

Azhar Ali also accepted responsibility of the humiliating defeat by 165 runs of the Green Shirts in fifth ODI against Sri Lanka. He said that they cannot give any justification like being tired or overconfident as being professionals. He admitted that Green Shirts did not exhibited good play in the last ODI.

The ODI skipper said that his men was under immense pressure in the series due to fears to be ousted from the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in England in 2017.

He praised outstanding skills of Sarfraz Ahmed and expressed proud of his vice-captaincy. He said that the wicket keeper cum batsman has skills to play spin bowling really well besides his efficient play of singles and and rotate strike. He also lauded coaches for their hard work on the practice nets.
