Pakistani Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited Army Headquarters in Italy and held important meeting with Italian Army Chief, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.
General Raheel Sharif was given Guard of Honour by the fresh contingents of Italian military troops over his arrival in the Italian Army HQ.
General Raheel Sharif and Italian Army Chief exchanged views to widen defence cooperation between both countries, Director General ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa tweeted.
Italian Army Chief lauded sacrifices of Pakistan Army which played significant role in establishment of peace in the region.
COAS also met Italian Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) during the visit. The military heads agreed to bring joint efforts via extended defence cooperation to eliminate terrorism.
Italian CDF said that ‘Pakistan has lot to offer to other armies’ and ‘We see Pakistan Army with respect and admiration’ in the country. Italian CDF appreciated Pakistan Army on its achievements and expertise against terrorism.
