ECP postpones issuance of LB schedule in Punjab, Sindh

Organisation of Local Bodies’ election in doldrums once against as Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) failed to issue schedule of the municipal polls for Punjab and Sindh provinces.

ECP said this time that new schedule would be released on August 17 post approval of the Supreme Court (SC).

ECP spokesperson in his recent press conference said that LB polls’ schedule has not been released due to extension requests sent by both provinces due to floods.

He added ECP has decided to contact SC in this regards after received extension requests by Punjab and Sindh governments which resulted non-issuance of the LB schedule.

New schedule would be released on August 17 if the Supreme Court (SC) accepted the plea, otherwise it would be issued tomorrow retaining the previously announced date. It should be mentioned that the Supreme Court (SC) had directed to organise Local Bodies’ election in both provinces on September 26.
