RIYADH: The Saudi government has allowed its citizens and foreign nationals residing inside the kingdom to perform Umrah from October 4 after a months of suspension in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
In the first phase, 6,000 citizens and residents will be allowed to perform Umrah daily from Oct 4. The second phase will start from Oct 18 while the third from Nov 1, in which the pilgrims from the countries deemed safe will be allowed to perform Umrah.
Earlier in March, the Saudi government had banned Umrah to stop the spread of coronavirus.
Hajj and Umrah earn the Saudi government $12 billion every year.
