Karachi: Recent rains in the mountain ranges of Sindh and Balochistan have raised the water level in the Hub Dam, which supplies drinking water to Karachi, by another 8 feet.

According to Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) sources, the water level in Hub Dam was at 312 feet before the onset of rains, but due to recent rains, the water level in Hub Dam has now crossed 320 feet.

After heavy rains in the catchment area of Hub Dam, the flow of water in the dam is continuing rapidly.

The sources said that more than 8 feet of water has come in a few days so far and this water storage is enough for Karachi till the year 2022.

They added that due to last year’s rains, the water stored in Hub Dam could have been supplied to Karachi for a year.

It may be recalled that Hub Dam supplies water especially to the western district of Karachi, which also includes areas like Orangi Town and Baldia Town.
