KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Senator Siraj-ul-Haq demanding accountability of NAB said that the anti-graft watchdog has so far given importance to media trial more than people’s court trial.

“It is need of the time to restructure the NAB.  Using it for political engineering is tantamount to promoting corruption, the JI chief said while talking to the workers at Karachi Airport on Friday. Senator Siraj-ul-Haq has arrived in the city on a two-day visit.

H said that no country can progress without the genuine accountability.

He added that the rulers and NAB had made a mockery of accountability, due to which corruption has increased in the country and dishonest people have been given a chance to come to power.

The JI chief said that the Supreme Court had exposed the performance of the NAB.

Senator Siraj-ul-Haq said that the people who should be held accountable are holding key  positions and are threatening others with accountability. No one is even asking the 436 accused in Panama case. The government, NAB and the courts have kept mysterious silence on these cases.
