ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Senator Siraj-ul-Haq has said that August 5 should be celebrated as a day of condemnation beyond politics to show solidarity with the oppressed people of Kashmir.

He said that the Modi government had taken taken unconstitutional step on August 5. It is proposed that August 5 be observed as a day of condemnation. India has its eyes on Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, he added.

The JI chief was expressing his views in the Senate here on Wednesday.

He said that we have to move forward instead of paying lip service and take practical steps and take the path that will ensure the independence of Kashmir.

He said that all the leadership of Occupied Kashmir is in jails. 18,000 youths have been locked up in jails in a year. We have not been able to highlight the Kashmir issue due to weak foreign policy. What steps has the government taken regarding occupied Kashmir? The nation needs an answer.
