Intense weather system from India to bring heavy rain to Karachi today

KARACHI: After severe heat, heavy rains flooded Karachi as roads turned into ponds at several places in the city.

Due to the accumulated rainwater water on the roads, traffic jams were seen at various places in the city.

The underpass on Faisal Drug Road was flooded after which it was closed for traffic.

The rain had badly damaged the city’s drainage system as water accumulated on Burns Road, Karsaz, Hassan Square, Shara Faisal, Tower, PIDC Chowk and other major roads.

The highest rainfall of 41 mm was recorded at Saddar while 32 mm at Faisal Base.

Power supply was also suspended in different areas as soon as the rain started in the city.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has said that the rain system is present in the north of the Arabian Sea.

It has forecast intermittent rain for Karachi till Saturday night.
