Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that all the claims and promises made by the government and K-Electric of ending loadshedding in the city had proved false.
Addressing a meeting of the representatives of various labour and trade unions at the Idara Noor-e-Haq, he said that KE was still carrying out announced as well as unannounced loadshedding in the name of load management in several parts of the city.
We have received complaints of loadshedding from from several areas including Gulshan Iqbal, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulistan e Johar, New Karachi, Orangi Town, North Nazimabad and Lyari, he added.
The JI leader said it was government’s responsibility to provide electricity to people of Karachi, therefore, K-Electric should be nationalised immediately.
The Jamaat-e-Islami will soon present a labour’s charter of demand for their rights in a grand labour convention.
We will also launch a grand political and legal movement for the labourers, Hafiz Naeem said.
