Train service resumed after 56-day closure

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Railways has resumed partial operation across the country today after 56 days of closure. 

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had given approval to resume the rail operation on Monday.

First train Pakistan Express had left Rawalpindi for Karachi at 6am today.

Nine trains will depart from Karachi for their respective destinations today.

According to DS of Pakistan Railway, 40 per cent seats would be kept unoccupied under the standard operating procedures.

A passenger found violating the SOPs would be fined for two times. However,  he will be offloaded from the train, if he committs the violation for the third time, he added.

Passengers have to reach the station one hour prior to the departure time.

No relative of the passengers will be allowed to enter the premises of the station.
