Shops reopened across country after two months

KARACHI: Shops have reopened after easing in lockdown restrictions across the country on Monday. 

The shops and small markets had remained closed for about two months due to lockdown restrictions in the wake of coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The shookeepers in Karachi have voiced relief after easing in restrictions.

On Sunday, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had announced opening of shops from Monday in the city.

He announced this after a meeting with traders at the Sindh Assembly building in which standard operating procedures were agreed for opening of shops.

A spokesman for the CM said that shops will open from 6am to 5pm.

He said that the shops will open from Monday to Friday while a partial lockdown will be placed on Saturdays and Sundays.

The spokesman said that shopping malls, cinemas, parks, wedding halls, educational institutions will remain closed. Religious and social gatherings and sports activities will also be banned, he added.
