NEW YORK: The new coronavirus is natural in origin and did not originate in a Chinese lab, the World Health Organization reiterated.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump claimed to had seen evidence that the virus originated in a lab in China.
Meanwhile, the researchers said that the coronavirus had jumped to humans from animals in Wuhan wet market.
I have seen evidence that the virus originated in a Wuhan lab, the US president claimed on Thursday. However, he refused to share further details in this regard.
“We have listened to several researchers who had closely monitor the sequences of coronavirus,” WHO emergencies chief Michael Ryan said during a virtual presser.
