KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhter on Tuesday announced that all the departments of the city government would be kept closed today to mourn the death of former Karachi Nazim and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Naimatullah Khan.

In a statement, Akhtar said that the services rendered by Naimatullah Khan for the development of Karachi would be remembered forever.

Earlier, the former Karachi Nazim and Jamaat-e-Islami leader had passed away today after a protracted illness.

The senior JI leader had served as a mayor of Karachi from 2001 to 2005.
