ISLAMABAD: United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has said that the rising Islamophobia is intolerable.

The UN chief made these remarks while speaking at a presser here alongside Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

He said: “We need to fight Islamophobia very strongly as refugees/migrants are often attacked by populist politicians or other religious haters today.”

Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said on Monday that the international community’s support for Pakistan to handle refugees had been minimal as compared to the country’s national efforts for the Afghan refugees.

He was speaking at the conference “40 years of Afghan Refugees Presence in Pakistan: A New Partnership for Solidarity in Islamabad” being organised by the Pakistan government in collaboration with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
