Jamaat-e-Islami to stage sit-in against Bahria Town on Jan 31 over illegal development charges

KARACHI: The Jamaat-e-Islami, Karachi, (JI) has announced to stage a sit-in against the Bahria Town management for their illegal steps causing problems for thousands of the allottees on Jan 31 (Friday) on Tariq Road.

Speaking at the “Bahria Town Affectees Grand Convention” organised by the JI at the Idara-e-Noor-e-Haq, Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman urged Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz Hussain to give a timeframe for the solution of problems being faced by the affectees of its various housing projects.

He demanded of the Bahria Town to immediately withdraw the 35 per cent development tax, cancellation of plots and the decision that forces the allottees to take possession before Jan 31.

The JI’s Karachi chief said: “We want to resolve the issues through dialogue. We want to address the problems of thousands of allottees legally.”

The “Bahria Town Affectees Grand Convention” was attended by a large number of the affectees of various housing projects of the country’s largest real-estate development company.

Those also spoke on the occasion included JI Public Aid Committee President Saifuddin Advocate, secretary Najeeb Ayubi, affectees Amir Majeed, Faisal Majeed, Kaleem Ahmed, Nadeem Sheikh, Nizamuddin, Ehtesham Uddin and others.
