ISLAMABAD: A senior PTI leader and a federal minister was reportedly a dual national when he had submitted his nomination papers to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) before the last years’ general elections, a local English language claimed here on Monday.

The newspaper claimed that Faisal Vawda, the federal minister for water resources had  the citizenship of the United States when he filed his nomination for the 2018 elections.

It continued that Vawda had filed nomination last year on June 11 and later on June 18 he approached the US consulate and applied to cancel his American nationality.

As per the laws, a dual national cannot contest a election in Pakistan.
