ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called upon Iran and the US to take steps to reduce tensions.

In an interview with CNN Turk, Erdogan said that the assassination of a key commander of a country would not go unanswered.

“We are closely monitoring the situation arisen after the killing of Qasem Soleimani in the US attack in Baghdad,” he added.

Last week, Iranian President Hasan Rouhani had vowed that Tehran and region’s other ‘free nations’ would avenge Revolutionary Guards commander Qasem Soleimani’s killing.
